From April 20–23, 2026, the European Java community will once again gather in Cologne for JCON EUROPE 2026. Taking place at the Cinedom multiplex cinema, the conference brings together developers, architects, and Java enthusiasts for four days of knowledge sharing, inspiration, and real-world experience — all on the big screen.

Under the motto “Big screen. Big community. Big AI.”, JCON EUROPE 2026 offers an in-person program running daily from 9:00 to 18:00 (CEST), combining technical depth with a strong community focus.

With JCON EUROPE 2026 approaching, the Early Bird ticket phase is about to close — leaving attendees only around two weeks to secure discounted passes. Four Days of Java, Architecture, and Community

The event kicks off with workshops on Monday, April 20, starting at 13:00, followed by three full conference days featuring practical Java deep dives, architecture insights, hands-on demos, mentoring opportunities, and plenty of hallway-track networking. Organizers have also announced a mid-week VIP party.

Orlando, Florida – October 6–9, 2025 – The international Java community will come together as part of IBM TechXchange 2025 for a special program track: JCON @ IBM TechXchange 2025. The Java track of the conference is organized by the Java User Group Oberpfalz in cooperation with the trade magazine JAVAPRO and offers developers a platform for exchange, practice, and innovation.

Under the motto “Embrace your Java Journey”, the focus will be on hands-on content: live coding sessions, hands-on workshops, insights into current tools, and contributions to open-source projects. Participants can obtain on-site certifications and connect directly with more than 1,000 experts.

A global gathering of the Java community

From May 12–15, 2025, Cologne became the epicentre of the international Java community. For the tenth edition of JCON EUROPE, developers from more than 60 countries across five continents gathered at the Cinedom to celebrate 30 years of Java. The atmosphere? Euphoric, collaborative – with plenty of good humour.

UnConferences - the antidote to conferences?

unConferences: Experience community-driven learning and networking - where attendees set the agenda and drive the conversation.

In a few days, I’ll be kicking off the second London Java Community Conference this year. We (the LJC) usually run an unConference once a year. Traditionally the last Saturday in November., but since the end of the Covid lockdown, it’s been a Monday near that date. I’ll explain why that’s important later

In this post, I want to explain why we are running an unConference and have two this year. I aim to inspire you to follow suit and run your version—wherever you are and whatever you do. It might just change your life.
